The InterChange Cold Storage refrigerated warehouse facility had its grand opening on September 19, 2019. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and other state officials attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the currently 250,000 square-foot facility that will create 88 new jobs in Mount Crawford, Virginia.
Governor Northam and other special guests on hand had kind words to say about InterChange’s new investment in the Virginia economy. “I commend InterChange Group on the completion of this new state-of-the-art facility which will support the Valley’s thriving food and beverage industry and help ensure the economic competitiveness of this vital region of the Commonwealth for years to come,” Governor Northam said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Brian Ball touted the facility’s prime location for the business community. “This new facility is a great addition to the Valley’s thriving food and beverage cluster,” Ball said. “InterChange’s major investment to broaden its supply chain from Rockingham County speaks volumes about the region’s strategic location, pro-business environment, and skilled manufacturing workforce.”
InterChange Group President Devon Anders noted that the warehouse was opened ahead of schedule despite being such an elaborate project. “We are pleased to celebrate the completion of the first two phases ahead of schedule,” Anders said. “It represents InterChange’s largest project to date and utilizes new and innovative technologies for the cold storage industry. We designed and built this project for the food and beverage companies that rely on our local agriculture, productive and skilled workforce, transportation infrastructure, and friendly business climate to produce, store, and ship their products around the world.”
The Future of the InterChange Cold Storage Refrigerated Warehouse
With the first two phases of the Cold Storage complete, InterChange will continue working on the next phases while conducting business in the finished areas. The completed Cold Storage facility will house approximately 600,000 square feet with 80,000 pallet positions. Temperatures can range from -10 degrees to 34 degrees Fahrenheit to allow the facility to be used for many different refrigerated applications.
